PeaceTags™ FAQs

What is the mission of PeaceTags™?

The mission of PeaceTags™ is to help heal the wounds of war (physical, emotional, and spiritual); and to ignite peace in our hearts, in our homes, and in our world by spreading words of peace. We raise awareness and funds for innovative non profit organizations helping troops, their families, our communities and our world.

What are PeaceTags™?

PeaceTags™ are "dog-tag" shaped pendants that have been engraved with inspiring words of peace. They are gifts of peace . Our initial product line features beautiful high quality sterling silver "dog tags" engraved with inspiring words of peace. PeaceTags™ are "gifts that give back" since our business plan calls for all net proceeds (after expenses and taxes) to be donated to charity. (This is unique since most "cause -related marketing" concepts donate only a small percentage of net profit; or they offer the donation during a limited time frame.)

PeaceTags™ have proven to be a gift one buys for oneself and for others for: Christmas/Hanukah, birthdays, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduations, teacher's gifts, going away presents, gifts for people with illness; everyday we hear about a new reason someone gave the gift of peace!

Where can one find PeaceTags™?

PeaceTags™ are sold through an easy to navigate website, launched September 11, 2007-- www.peacetags.com , and through select upscale retail stores.

What are "dog-tags?"

Historically, they have been used in various forms by the military for soldier identification purposes. During the American Civil War, troops carved their names on pieces of wood and bored a hole in one end. They hung these hand crafted pendants around their necks so their families would know what became of them should they die on the battlefield.

What has been the response of military families to PeaceTags™?

We have received rave reviews from military families and veterans. People are touched that this concept was created by a veteran's daughter to honor her father's memory.

We have received many comments from relatives, particularly Moms of current service people saying "Thank you for providing an easy way for me to bring up my son/daughter in conversation". Certainly no one wants peace of mind more than those with loved ones currently in harm's way.

It has been pointed out to us by many people that PeaceTags™ are "a visual demonstration of American freedom." Due to America 's freedom of religion and speech, we can appreciate and celebrate the words of many different creative thinkers and spiritual leaders. In many countries, that would not be possible.

Do you have special versions of PeaceTags™?

Yes! We introduced the "Tri- Peace PeaceTag™" for Holiday 2007. This tag reflects the word peace in English, Arabic and Hebrew, (Peace Salaam Shalom). These timely and timeless words can be read by millions of people around the world, particularly in the Middle East.

From time to time we will introduce limited edition or special edition PeaceTags™.

What are PeaceTags™ "SportTags"?

These are stainless steel versions of the original PeaceTags™ engraved with the Tri/Try Peace message.

Why did you create the "SportTag"?

Our goal with the Tri-Peace "Sport Tag" was a combination of creating something new for the holiday season, spreading a simple but important peace message that crosses cultural and language barriers, and also offering our customers a piece of jewelry at a new price point. Like our sterling silver PeaceTags™, the Sport Tag is beautiful, meaningful and raises money for charity - we're excited to be expanding the product line in a way that our customers are so inspired by.

Why are the original PeaceTags™ in sterling silver?

As Walt Whitman, one of the wise people we quote, so aptly put it, "Peace is always beautiful." We wanted all of these inspiring quotes to be featured on a beautiful, durable piece of jewelry. In addition, silver conducts heat and electricity better than any other precious metal. The hope is for the idea of peace to spread with an electric charge!

Will the silver PeaceTags™ tarnish?

Yes. Just like peace, they require attention! If neglected, their shine will temporarily go away. We offer non-toxic buffing cloths and there are many other cloths and cleaners available to keep your PeaceTags sparkling!

What are the innovative non-profit organizations you are donating net profits to?

In 2008, we are thrilled to announce our alliance with the Fisher House Foundation (www.fisherhousevaps.org).

PeaceTags™ has recently aligned with Friends of VA Puget Sound Fisher House which will open the doors to its "home away from home" for military families in September, 2008, on the grounds of VA Puget Sound in Seattle. There are currently 38 Fisher Houses which allow America's military families to be together during extended medical treatment and lengthy physical therapy.

We love the mission of Fisher Houses because as their motto says, "Family is the best medicine".

PeaceTags™ were born in Seattle, so this alliance which helps service people from across the country and mainly from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana is particularly fitting. Fisher House Foundation has a unique community collaboration approach to raising funds which allows support from one community to "seed" a Fisher House in another state or internationally.

What do you look for in Beneficiary/Partners?

We carefully vet our non-profits and look for integrity and balance. We look for organizations helping with immediate needs of the wounded and also for organizations taking a more long term look at the needs of our troops, their families, and indeed all of us. A peaceful world would be in everyone's best interest!
